Class of 2024 Willis (Texas) signal-caller DJ Lagway is one of a handful of early standouts at the quarterback position as we begin to shift our focus on the sophomore class.
Lagway, a 6-foot-3, 190-pounder with the ability to pass as well as run, started as a freshman for Willis High School a season ago and this summer, impressed coaches throughout the Lone Star State at an array of camp settings. That includes Baylor, where his father Derek Lagway played, as well as Texas A&M, who made Lagway the first in-state sophomore quarterback offer for Jimbo Fisher this summer.
Georgia Tech and Houston have also extended offers to Lagway thus far.
Lagway intends to see many schools that have offered as well as others on the radar this fall. That includes the Longhorns' opener against Louisiana on Sept. 4; the Aggies' tilt with Alabama on Oct. 9; Baylor's showdown with BYU on Oct. 16; Notre Dame's bout with North Carolina on Oct. 30 and the annual Ohio State-Michigan tilt in the Big House on Nov. 23.
One of the top 2024 signal-callers in the Lone Star State, Lagway clocked a 4.7-second 40 at Rivals Camp Houston as a freshman. He's a multi-sport athlete that also participates in hoops and track and field.
